Below you will find descriptions for available classes during our upcoming 7-week fall session with homeschool enrichment classes offered on Monday and Wednesday. Some classes meet once a week, some meet on Mondays and Wednesdays. Please take note of the meeting days in the description below. Once you log into the Parent Portal, you can view information on tuition and can register there!

Ages 7+
Intro to sewing
Monday & Wedneday
Meets twice a week*

*No prior experience needed
Learn the foundations of sewing in this hands-on beginner class! Students will become comfortable using a sewing machine while learning essential skills including threading, stitching, measuring, cutting fabric, following simple patterns, and finishing projects. Throughout the 7-week session, students will build confidence and independence as they complete several beginner-friendly sewing projects. No previous sewing experience is required.

*6+ months of prior sewing experience required.
Designed for students who already have experience with a sewing machine and are ready to take on more challenging projects. Students will strengthen their construction skills while learning more advanced techniques such as working with patterns, taking measurements, selecting and cutting fabric, creating finished seams, and completing multi-step projects. With instructor guidance, students will work toward greater independence and develop the skills needed to take a project from pattern to finished piece.

Story Lab: Writing for the Stage

Every great story begins with an idea. Through creative prompts, theatre-inspired writing, mentor texts, and writer's workshop, students will develop memorable characters, compelling dialogue, imaginative settings, and original stories. Writers will experiment with a variety of genres including scenes, monologues, short plays, and narrative fiction, while building a portfolio of polished work to share with family and friends at the end of the session.
*Requirements: Students should be comfortable writing independently and should bring a laptop to class each week for drafting and revising their work.

Create, explore, and get your hands messy! In this fun, process-focused art class, students will complete three unique art projects over the course of the session, each introducing a different medium, technique, or artistic style. From painting and drawing to mixed media, printmaking, sculpture, and more, every project encourages creativity, experimentation, and self-expression in a welcoming studio environment.
*No experience necessary. All materials are provided.

Take your acting skills to the next level through more focused character and scene work. Students will explore character motivation, objectives, relationships, physicality, vocal choices, and script analysis while working with a variety of scenes and performance exercises. Emphasis will be placed on making intentional acting choices, responding authentically to scene partners, and developing stronger, more nuanced performances.

Discover the art of bringing a character to life through puppetry! Students will learn foundational techniques including puppet movement, focus, character development, voice, and working with other puppeteers. Through games, exercises, and short performance pieces, students will explore how movement and storytelling work together!

Building on foundational puppetry skills, students will explore more advanced techniques in movement, character, voice, coordination, and ensemble puppetry. Students will work on creating believable characters, developing precise and intentional movement, and performing more complex scenes and sequences. The class will emphasize the connection between puppeteer, puppet, and audience while challenging students to become more confident and expressive puppet performers.

Page to Stage Humanities Study:
The world of Mary Poppins
Monday & Wednesday

Explore the history, literature, and culture that inspired Mary Poppins in this interdisciplinary humanities course. Students will read selections from the original books while examining life in Edwardian England through the lenses of history, geography, and social studies. Topics include the British Empire, London geography, daily life, social class, transportation, education, and the cultural changes shaping the early twentieth century. Through discussion, primary sources, mapping activities, and project-based learning, students will develop a deeper understanding of the historical context behind our fall production of Mary Poppins while strengthening their critical reading and historical thinking skills.

Shakespeare Study
Much ado ABout Nothing

Experience one of Shakespeare's most celebrated comedies through close reading, discussion, and performance. In this literature seminar, students will read the complete text of Much Ado About Nothing while exploring Shakespeare's language, memorable characters, timeless themes, and the social and historical context of Elizabethan England. Along the way, students will strengthen their reading comprehension, analytical thinking, and confidence in interpreting Shakespeare through dramatic readings and collaborative discussion.
Whether you're new to Shakespeare or already a fan, this course offers an engaging way to experience one of literature's greatest playwrights while connecting with WSA's spring 2027 production of Much Ado About Nothing.

Intro to Italian

Discover the beauty of the Italian language in this fun and interactive introductory course! Over six weeks, students will build a foundation in everyday Italian through vocabulary, pronunciation, greetings, numbers, colors, food, travel, and simple conversations. Along the way, we'll explore Italian culture through games, music, and hands-on activities that make language learning engaging and memorable. Perfect for beginners with no prior Italian experience who are curious about language, travel, and culture.
